Thanks to continuous studies and research and its many years of experience in the sector, Buccelletti has selected the most suitable varieties of olive trees for the Livita Plus system and today it is finally possible to create a super high density olive orchard with Italian olive varieties.

For its system of super high density olive growing, in addition to some of the varieties traditionally used as Arbequina, Arbosana and Koroneiki, Buccelletti has dedicated years of research to the selection of Italian olive trees that respond well to the Livita Plus method.

Leccio del Corno
Pendulous canopy, high vitality and expanded crown are the characteristics of this variety native of Val di Pesa (Tuscany), very resistant to low winter temperatures.

Piantone di Mogliano
Typical of the Macearata area, it is a plant of low vitality and compact canopy, with a shallow crown. The high oil yield and the excellent resistance have determined its great diffusion.

Maurino
Originally from Lucca, has a very good productivity and yield in oil, characterized by medium vitality, pendulous canopy and a compact crown, gives a sweet and fruity oil.

FS-17 Favolosa
Known for its high resistance to the bacterium Xylella, is born from the free pollination of one of the most popular cultivars in central Italy. It has a medium density canopy, pendulous canopy and weak vitality.

All these Italian olive varieties are ideal for super high density olive orchard: they guarantee high adaptability, resistance to cold and production of an excellent olive.

what is the yield of Italian olive trees?

It is therefore possible to practice super high density olive growing with Italian olive trees today, but what is the yield of these olive tree varieties? One of the reasons that led Livita Plus to select certain Italian olive trees is precisely their yield: after numerous agro-scientific tests these varieties were found to be highly productive and their continuity of production remains constant over the years.

Sale of certified virus free plants: the Buccelletti mother plant

Buccelletti is not only able to offer super high density turnkey olive groves, it is also a point of reference in the sale of olive trees, both Italian and international olive trees such as Arbequina, Arbosana and Koroneiki. All the plants come from our mother plant in Castiglion Fiorentino (Arezzo) and are certified by the National Research Council and Massa Spin-Off; they have a CAC (Conformitas Agraria Communitatis) certificate and are viruses and bacteria free.

Thanks to many years of experience in the olive sector and continuous research, Buccelletti has developed a system of super high density olive growing that ensures high productivity and is now a virtuous example of precision agriculture.

Thanks to continuous scientific research and numerous tests carried out in recent years, it is now possible to adopt the system of super high density olive growing using exclusively Italian olive trees such as Piantone di Mogliano, Maurino, Leccio del Corno and FS-17 Favolosa.

A research and genetic improvement programme has been active for 5 years now and have led to the development of 16 selections of Italian genotypes, which will soon be released and which are currently under patent phase.
